A park ranger’s perspective on hand-built clay
Hi there,
I'm a ceramic artist and former park ranger based in Oregon.
For many years, I worked in environmental education and interpretation, helping people connect with the outdoors. I value paying attention to the stories, patterns, and connections that make places special.
I often find myself daydreaming about moments in nature, like sunlight sparkling on water, flowers bouncing in the wind, waves lapping against a rock, falling leaves, or a landscape that just I can’t get out of my mind. I use ceramics to capture memories of good moments that I want to hang on to for just a little longer.
Through slab work, hand building, and sgraffito carving, I create ceramic wall pieces and functional pottery to share the magic moments.

In good company...My grandma was an artist, and growing up around her shaped how I view the world and my approach to art. My family is full of many kinds of artists.
I relate closely with the women who came before me. I view building a creative life of my own as continuing an artistic lineage. I am grateful to walk this path.
